The town of Guimar, known far beyond the island, is located in the southeast of Tenerife. It became popular due to the presence of the ancient pyramids of Guimar, which are lava stone structures laid out in the form of steps. Despite many existing versions, the origin and purpose of these pyramids remain a mystery. Also, it is not possible to establish the age of these mystical structures.
It is believed that there were 9 pyramids initially, but only 6 of them have survived to our time.
Around the ancient structures, there is an anthropological museum and a botanical garden, famous for its collection of poisonous plants, some of which are deadly. It is worth noting that the park has a large number of endemic fauna of particular value, which is found only in the Canary Islands. The most famous: Canary pine, Canary palm, Euphorbia, dragon tree and bindweed.
The park is a famous place and welcomes over 100,000 tourists every year. And everyone advises not to spare money to rent an audio guide, with which the excursion becomes much more interesting.
