Garachico
Garachico is a city literally raised from the ashes. After the volcanic eruption in 1706, the lava destroyed most of the then flourishing city and the port. But, over time, it was rebuilt, and now it is a small, cosy port town with narrow picturesque streets where one can observe the slow-paced life of the local population. Tourists come here to enjoy the silence, admire the majestic local landscapes and taste traditional Canarian cuisine.
Garachico is located on the island's northern coast, about 52 km West of the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This charming little town is famous for its observation deck, which offers an awe-inspiring panoramic view of the city from a bird's eye view. There are also architectural and historical sights and a natural pool formed as a result of a volcanic eruption.

In the north of Tenerife, a visit to Garachico is considered a must for tourists. Excursion trips from Adeje are very popular (detailed route information and prices can be found at any tourist centre). If you want to stay longer, there are several hotels in the city and its surrounding area and the opportunity to rent apartments from the locals.
