Teide National Park
Teide National Park
Teide National Park is the main attraction of the island of Tenerife, located in its very centre. The park's top is 3718 meters above sea level and is considered the highest point in Spain. Here is also found the eponymous active Teide volcano.
The park is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is an absolute miracle of nature. Unique representatives of flora and fauna live here, some of which are no longer found anywhere in the world. The unique landscape has been formed through numerous volcanic eruptions, landslides and erosion, creating its unique forms under special atmospheric phenomena.

The length of the reserve is 189.9 km2 and has a network of routes to explore the surroundings. This place is so popular that dozens of tours and excursions are held daily on its territory. Each path is long and complex, containing many viewing platforms with mesmerizing views on the island.

It is worth mentioning that the volcano's crater is considered a restricted area and requires a special permit to get there. The request is sent through the official website, which is free of charge. It is advisable to take care of getting the permit in advance (a month or two, depending on the season).

There is only one hotel in the park, "Parador", where you can stay, but only for one night. By the way, when you rent a room, you automatically get a pass to visit the crater - this is another way to obtain permission to enter the territory of the volcano's crater.
Here is also operating one of the world's largest observatories. It is open to the public, where everyone can watch the night sky.

Buss tours with excursions to Teide's National Park are held from any city on the island. However, you can easily reach it on your own by rented car.
